Who we are, what we do

Mericco Spa was founded in 1951 in Cusago, near Milan , by Giovanni Mericco. It is a well-established company now managed with dedication and seriousness by the third generation of the family.

It started its business as a local company, producing fresh and seasoned products. Then it evolved and specialized in fresh products while targeting a new Customer market segment.

During the 1970s and 1980s, the company successfully transformed its business, becoming “specialists in fresh meat”. Driven by a strong commitment to quality, it naturally expanded into a new distribution channel: large-scale retail, which was then emerging with the rise of supermarkets and large shopping malls.

Today it offers a complete range of products using the best national pork meat: fresh sausages, prepared culinary products, loose and portioned meat.

Throughout its long history, the Company’s primary aim had always been the satisfaction of its customers providing high-quality products.

Passion, careful selection of raw materials, long experience combined with our innovation prowess, are the basis of the quality of its products.

Constant investments in research, infrastructure and cutting-edge technologies have guaranteed a very high production standard, in line with the strict European Union regulations on quality control: the company is in fact IFS Certified and, recently, has also obtained the “Industry 4.0” certificate following the digitalization of production processes.

Timely execution of requests, a substantially “Taylor Made” service combined with a flexible approach and the quality of the raw material define the essential traits of our Company's philosophy.

Importance of the territory, the municipality of Cusago

Mericco SpA also stands out for its deep and long-lasting bond with the Cusago area, where it has always operated.

Cusago still has a strong agricultural character, thus representing one of the last green spaces in the immediate vicinity of Milan. With its Castello Visconteo, once a hunting residence of the Dukes of Milan, and the Augustinian Abbey of Santa Maria Rossa, it represents an area of great historical and cultural interest.

The aforementioned proximity to the regional capital and to the main communication routes finally attributes a strategic logistical relevance to the company's location in light of the fact that the presence of the majority of its customers' distribution platforms is located in the central-northern area of our country.

All the members of Mericco’s Family live in this small, industrious and welcoming Municipality on the outskirts of Milan in harmony with the citizens and local institutions in the context of a natural and profitable relationship with the community, aimed at mutual growth through the economic progress of the territory and its citizens.
